Closed, an Italian denim brand founded in 1978 by François Girbaud and taken over by German entrepreneur Gordon Giers, collaborates with Monaco Marine to design a capsule collection.

The story of Closed dates back to 1968, when Marithé and François Girbaud launched "ÇA", the first designer denim brand. The two founders’ recipe for success included innovation, quality and functionality, which characterized each of their designs. In 1978, the label was renamed Closed; taken over by German entrepreneur Gordon Giers in 2004, it keeps offering pieces featuring a sophisticated design and irreproachable quality — with a complete wardrobe.

Giers can rely on his trademark: a particular attention for detail and unparalleled know-how. "If we want to craft the most beautiful pants, it seems logical to travel to the country that has the most beautiful threads, weaving and laundries", he explains. This one of a kind expertise is part of Closed’s uniqueness — and that is why its approach is similar to that of Monaco Marine, which is also driven by the unequaled know-how of its craftsmen.

Therefore, the link between Closed and Monaco Marine is obvious. This is why Merci la mer invited the Italian brand to design an exclusive capsule collection highlighting the store’s colors. It includes straight-cut trousers flanked with two stripes, a subtly loose sweatshirt featuring Monaco Marine’s logo, or a t-shirt with the message « Merci la mer ». A line of elegant basics, to be worn anywhere, anytime.
